A magnitude 4.7 earthquake was detected by seismologists with an epee center in the Inglewood area in the city of Los Angeles on Sunday 18th May 2009 around 8:40pm. The Newport-Inglewood fault zone is well known for its geological activity and could be the source of the earthquake. There were also a number of aftershocks that have been detected that will help the seismologists to pin point the exact location.
Earthquake Central has a great map that shows earthquake locations and other information about earthquakes in the LA area.
